Face Tracker
A computer vision/robotics project.
The idea of the project is to implement a face detection algorithm. On the other hand the quad-rotor is supposed to keep track of the face physically, meaning it has to stay at a constant distance from the face and to be always oriented towards it.

In this project, the pixhawk quadcopter detects a hoop, fly to it facing the normal of the plane fitting the hoop.
The idea is to detect an ellipse (circle in 3D space), then verify it according to criterias. After that, a plane is fitted to the ellipse, and the normal to the plane is calculated. Then the pixhawk quadcopter is steered to around one meter away from the hoop, in the direction of the normal.

Pedestrians avoidance
During the Computer Vision Lab, the goal of my project was to implement a system able to detect and avoid pedestrians walking in front of a flying quadcopter. To do so, the traditionnal but nevertheless efficient histograms of oriented gradients has been used for detection and a KLT tracking over keypoints located on the pedestrians with some space constraints for the tracking part, made the PixHawk able to flight and avoid pedestrians located in front of it.

MAVCONN is a lightweight aerial robotics middleware designed for small unmanned aerial vehicles (MAVs).
The installation instructions here assume a Debian / Ubuntu (11.10) system.
PLEASE NOTE: CURRENTLY OPENCV IS REQUIRED FOR THE CAMERA INTERFACE, THIS WILL HOWEVER BE MADE OPTIONAL SOON (OCTOBER 2011)
